ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENDERS NETWORK

The Environmental Defenders Network (EDEN) is committed to protecting the Earth and defending the fundamental rights of people and nature.

Rooted in local realities but connected to global movements, EDEN draws inspiration from past and present champions of environmental justice whose struggles guide our mission.

We work through four core principles:

Community Power: Mobilizing women, youth, and grassroots communities with knowledge, data, and safe spaces for advocacy.

Policy Influence: Driving reforms and holding governments accountable through organizing, campaigns, and legal support.

Amplifying Voices: Partnering with media to expose injustices, counter misinformation, and highlight marginalized perspectives.

Global Linkages: Connecting local struggles to international networks for sustained systemic change.

Vision: A just world where communities live in harmony with nature, free from environmental degradation and abuse.

Mission: To empower communities to defend their environment and rights by building collective power, influencing policies, engaging media, and linking local struggles with global advocacy.

Core Values: Community empowerment, environmental justice, accountability, collaboration, rights defense, integrity, sustainability, and strategic litigation.

Thematic Areas:

Climate & Energy Justice – Ensuring equitable access to clean energy, resilience, and fair climate policies.

Civic Engagement & Litigation – Empowering communities to use civic participation and legal tools for accountability.

Corporate Integrity Monitoring – Promoting transparency, ethical practices, and responsibility in corporate operations.

Media & Awareness – Strengthening public awareness and media capacity to defend rights and the environment.

Through research, advocacy, community action, and publications, EDEN strives for lasting environmental justice—locally and globally.
